Recommendations Regarding the Annual Financial Report of Hickman County for the Year Ended June 30 2017 by the Hickman County Audit Committee

The Audit Committee for Hickman County has reviewed the Findings and Recommendations contained in the Annual Financial Report of Hickman County For the Year Ended June 30, 2017. County officials have responded to inquiries from the Audit Committee regarding findings which pertained to their particular office.

After review and consideration, the Audit Committee makes the following recommendations:

-- Solid Waste officials should implement the proposed corrections to the audit finding regarding lack of segregation of duties.

-- Due to conflicts in laws pertaining to non-profit organizations and laws pertaining to collateralization of local government funds, the audit committee makes no recommendation regarding the audit finding on adequate collateralization of Health Foundation funds.

-- In compliance with T.C.A. 9-3-406, this Committee is charged with establishment of a process by which employees, taxpayers or other citizens may confidentially report suspected illegal, improper, wasteful, or fraudulent activity. This Committee recommends that any suspect activities be reported to the State Comptroller's Fraud, Waste and Abuse Hot Line at 1-800-232-5454 or online at https://www.comptroller.tn.gov/ialLGSfraudReporting.asp.

On approval by this Committee, the Audit Committee secretary will forward these recommendations to the Hickman County Commission and will independently forward these recommendations to the local newspaper for dissemination to the general public.
