April 3 brought the end of ballot qualifying period for the Hickman County General Election on August 7. Four are seeking the vacant General Sessions Judge slot, four are running for sheriff, three are seeking the Mayor's position, and two wish to be elected as Register of Deeds. Clerk Casey Dorton, Circuit Court Clerk Dana D. Nicholson, Highway Supt Ronald Coates and Trustee Cheryl Chessor are unopposed. Nineteen of the 21 incumbent Legislative Body members are seeking new terms; 16 challengers also have filed.
